Jeffrey is a multidisciplinary Designer and Creative Director focused on building culturally relevant brands. In a career spanning 15+ years, Jeffrey has designed everything from environments and apparel, to brand identities and complex interactive experiences.
Obsessed with the overlapping cultures of fashion, art, and sport, Jeffrey has worked with influential brands such as Burton, Levi’s, Nike, Puma, Sonos, and Google. Additionally, as an art director of photography and video, he has worked extensively with high-profile talent, including athletes such as Michael Phelps, and musicians such as Zac Brown Band and Calvin Harris. In 2018, Jeffrey completed a collaboration that helped to define Intel’s visual identity system for the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Jeffrey worked at the forefront of Scandinavian fashion with Steinunn in Reykjavík, Iceland, while teaching design at Iceland University of the Arts. His continued interest in Scandinavia manifests in personal projects and a growing collection of Icelandic art. He is an active volunteer at the American Swedish Institute and the Loppet Foundation, and has served as Adjunct Faculty in the Design Department at MCAD in Minneapolis. In the winter months, he is a Ski Patroller with the National Ski Patrol.
Jeffrey studied both Industrial and Graphic Design at the graduate level, earning his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Additionally, he is a graduate of the textile design apprenticeship program at the Fabric Workshop & Museum in Philadelphia.
Prior to founding Hekla Projects, Jeffrey ran Signal / Noise and was a Creative Director at Landscape in San Francisco, where he lived and worked for 10+ years. While in the Bay Area, he held creative leadership roles at high-growth phase startups and worked agency-side at IDEO and Astro Studios. His work has been recognized by IDEA, the AIGA, Communication Arts, Site Inspire, Collate, and Red Dot.
